Discovered: The #1 energy booster

by Gabrielle on February 3, 2010

Which of these do you think is best at increasing daytime alertness and energy:
A. Sleeping in extra hour and a half
B. Two cups of strong coffee
C. A brief afternoon nap

It’s C, say scientists at the Sleep Research Center at Loughborough University in England. They tested each of these methods on volunteers and found that those who snuck in 20 minutes of shut-eye around 2 p.m. were the most alert and energized for the rest of the day. Coffee was the second-best energy booster. And, surprisingly, sleeping in an extra 90 minutes in the morning didn’t improve daytime energy at all!
