Studies show that a good night’s sleep is as important as eating right and exercising since it offers so many health benefits including amping up your daytime energy, bolstering the immune system so you don’t catch a cold or flu and speeding the recovery of injuries. And now Wheeling Jesuit University researchers have found that getting a good night’s sleep is as easy as putting a bowl of jasmine-scented potpourri in your bedroom. In their study, volunteers who slept in a room infused with a jasmine aroma for three nights in a row slept more soundly and reported feeling perkier during the day than those who snoozed in a room infused with lavender or no scent. Jasmine contains compounds that ease anxiety and promote relaxation when you breathe it in, explains study author Bryan Raudenbush, Ph.D..
