Free ship-to-store option helps you sidestep pricey shipping fees

When your favorite online retailer doesn’t offer free shipping or your purchases don’t qualify to be shipped at no charge, don’t despair. More and more stores now offer web shoppers a free ship-to-store option,  sending your online order to one of their local brick-and-mortar outlets for you to pick up. To do it: Simply log on and place your order, choose the ship-to-store option, then collect your items when you’re notified that they’ve been received by your local retailer. This way, you can enjoy the convenience of shopping from home (as well as online-only discounts) without paying a dime in shipping costs. Just a few of the of stores that offer free ship-to-store service include Walmart, Radio Shack, Payless, Staples, LL Bean, Borders, Ace Hardware, JC Penny’s and Sears.

Tip: Don’t let your shipment linger! Some stores will cancel your order and charge you a 20% restocking fee for items that haven’t been picked up within 10 days of arrival.
