Planning a getaway, but are afraid the friends or family you’re going away with won’t agree to your choice of vacation spots? There’s an easy way to get them to go along with your pick: propose it while they’re doing an activity that matches the mood of where you want to go, for instance, if you want a relaxing trip to a sunny tropical beach, suggest it while they’re unwinding in front of the TV; if you want an action-packed skiing adventure, suggest it while they’re doing something exciting, like rooting on a sports game. A new study in the Journal of Consumer Research shows that folks tend to choose vacation destinations that match the mood they’re in while making their decision.
